Hammering In The Bass
I purchased these headphones to use, primarily, with my 3DS though I thought to go the extra mile for the "pros" to be able to use them on my phone as a bonus. Overall I'm very, very pleased. Packaging is usual Razer standards, black and green with a matte finish, rounded manuals and stickers. Razer really knows presentation. In the package you get the headset, replacement earbuds, splitter jack and a hard, round carrying case.Onto the quality, and these things sound and feel fantastic. They're really bass-heavy which is great for games, but they're not muddy at all, there's a lot of clarity. Music generally sounds really good as well, but I tend to lower the volume as they can also be very loud but I find it too harsh for my ears especially if I'm listening to music with a lot distortion. The tinny speakers on the 3DS are horrible and the difference is night and day, I won't be playing my 3DS without these now. I also used the Y-splitter to play some games on my PC and they sound fantastic though not quite as good as my Siberia Elites. Build quality is also fantastic, the base of the jack, the mic housing, and the whole of the buds themselves (save for the rubbery tips) are all machined aluminum along with all ends of the Y-splitter! You get 3 different replacement buds for different ear sizes but only the one's that come on the headset in the package have the "bi-flanges" which are supposed to noise isolate even further but I honestly couldn't notice a difference. The only place I'll knock it is while using it for phone calls, it doesn't sound that great. It's nice for keeping your hands free but for some reason my phone calls sound... hollow? I don't know the word to aptly describe it but it's not unbearable just strange but it's a phone call and quality doesn't have to be audiophile grade anyway. Also I don't know how the mic sounds but I haven't gotten any complaints about sound quality so I'll give it a pass. Again, I bought these primarily for gaming but I just thought I'd let you know. Oh and behind the mic housing is a rubber button that you can use to pause and resume your music (on your phone) and in a call it'll hang up, nice if you don't want to pull your phone out but there's no volume buttons or slider.Over-all a great product for music and games but no too shabby for calls either.
